Acne is a disease which appears as cysts, tender red bumps, comedones known as blackheads or whiteheads or pustules (bumps containing pus). It is caused due to various reasons like heredity, puberty, working conditions (exposure to some industrial products), some drugs such as oral or injected steroids or few cosmetics that are core clogging. There are some over-the-counter ways to prevent acne, reduce inflammation and further outburst.
STRESS CAN BE A CAUSE FOR ACNE
It has been researched that stress can stimulate oil glands which are the basic problem for an acne prone skin and stress hormones like cortisol are responsible for increasing inflammation level in the body. In addition to this, some people get so conscious about their acne that they pick, scratch, peel or rub the affected area which aggravates the whole process. Further, you can calm your nerves through exercise, meditation or any relaxing mode which gives rest to your skin such as rubbing an ice cube covered with a cloth.
USE MILD CLEANSER FOR SKIN CARE
It is no magic to get rid of acne or pimples, the process takes time and one must go for cleansing process to minimize sensitivity, blemishes, and irritation. You can use mild face wash or soap which are sulphate free like Dove, Neutrogena, Cetaphil, etc which will remove dirt, impurities which enter into the epidermis and can help to wipe away oil from the surface of the skin.

Oil glands beneath the skin give rise to oil, which is a natural process that cannot be stopped but one can use products that contain glycolic acid, masks with sulfur, a gentle astringent/toner which can help draw out extra facial oil.
ANTIBACTERIAL CLEANSING IS A MUST
You can either go for some cosmetic products or home remedies that help in fighting bacteria. There are various antibacterial cleansers that come in the form of gel, lotion, liquid or cream which are used as an external application to treat acne. These cleansers contain benzoyl peroxide, resorcinol, and sulfur which kill bacteria, reduce redness or blemishes on the skin. Also, you have natural remedies like tea tree oil, honey and cinnamon mask, sodium bicarbonate or some citrus fruit like lemon or orange peel to get rid of such skin afflictions. For the severe type of acne prescribed retinoid (Retin-A, Tazorac, Avita, etc) or even some oral medication is advised by a dermatologist.
SOME OTHER PRACTICES LIKE MAINTAINING HYGIENE
It is important to maintain hygiene which is a must for a pimple prone skin such as wash your pillow case at least once a week as you take rest on it for 6-8 hours, apply branded exfoliating cleansers, pore strips which are inexpensive and can be used on nose, chin and forehead to wipe out oil from pores, use fresh napkins to pat your face dry. Additionally, don’t touch the affected area or even not your face often, this may bring discomfort or irritation.
